In addition to my passion for food, I’m a big fan of movies…animated movies in particular…Finding nemo, monsters inc,Mulan, the lion king, up,walle, beauty and the beast and of course toy story 1,2 and 3. (Mind you these are only a few of a long list of animated movies I adore)..
When I’m feeling a little down or life as a “gown up” gets to be too much, I stay up after the kids go to bed “the only- me time- I can get” and curl up in front of the tv or my laptop and watch one of the movies listed above. It never fails to left my spirit..
Time and time again,my heart goes out to Nemo and his dad as they have to face what they fear most. I marvel at the sheer genius of whoever first thought of the script of monsters inc. I feel with Mulan and her need to break out of a life prewritten and predecided where you look into the mirror and realise that the person looking back doesn’t show who you are inside. Each time I watch up, it makes me think how many people live life waiting for that one BIG adventure only to realise too late that living life day in day out was the BIG adventure…it’s the journey not the destination. I always cry when Simba’s dad dies and when he roars at pride rock in the end. I sing along with Belle and simply LOVE walle. As for toy story, between watching it alone and with my kids,I have watched it enough times to finish any line in toy story 1&2 and to quote the movie in every day life…still working on 3 though lol..
Why am I writing about this? may be to put a smile on your face if you like these movies too.
Maybe to say that some of the best joys in life are the simplest..
and maybe to pose the question..
What do you do to lift your spirit when life gets to be too tough?
Today’s recipe is a refreshing change from the regular pizza…It is easy to make and absolutely yummy..
Again…some of the best pizzas can be the simplest..the sauce here takes center stage.. it is simple yet garlic, olive oil and herbs come together to give every bite an explosion of flavor..I have a jar of this sauce in my fridge and I cant wait to make pizza again.
California oil sauce
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. marjoram
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. all spice
Topping
Green pepper slices
pitted olives
thinly sliced tomatoes
kashkaval cheese
mozzarella cheese
Pizza dough (store bought or home made..I’ll post my recipe for pizza dough soon)
Puree sauce ingredients in a blender and store in a small covered jar.
Brush oil sauces on dough, place kashkaval cheese, tomatoes ,olives and green pepper.
Sprinkle with mozzarella (optional). After I added the mozzarella I thought it looked better without it lol.
Place in a preheated oven (240 c) in lower rack untill the bottom and edges are lightly golden brown then place under the broiler to get it golden on top
