Chicken with orange cream sauce

The idea of mixing sweet and sour or fruits with chicken may seem odd at first but I’m here to change your mind

Give this recipe a try and I promise you love at first bite 🙂

The seasoning in the flour gives the chicken AMAZING flavor . When you bite into this, you’ll get the slightest crunch on the outside and juicy tender chicken on the inside. The sauce adds a creamy rich taste, the orange in it will be a pleasant delicious surprise.

You can serve this with fries, salad, sautéed vegetables or all of the above.

Chicken with orange cream sauce 

Ingredients 

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts

To coat the chicken

1 cup of flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon all spice

1/4 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Orange cream sauce

2 medium oranges

1/4 to 1/2 cup of cream

1/2 cup chicken broth

2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Pound the chicken breasts so the are about 0.5- 1 cm thick

Mix flour with salt, all spice, paprika and garlic powder.

Add the chicken to the flour mixture. Coat then shake off extra flour. (The chicken covered in bread crumbs is for another recipe coming soon)

In a pan melt one table-spoon of butter and one table-spoon of oil

When the pan is hot add the chicken and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side or until it is golden brown.

For the sauce melt the butter in a pan.

Thinly peel the oranges so that you only get the colored part and non of the white.

Divde the zest into two parts. one slice thinly and saute in the butter untill it is crip..set aside.

Squeeze the oranges to get half a cup of juice,add it to the butter you sautéed the zest in.(Dont throw away the oranges after squeezing them)

Add the broth, the remaining orange zest and the squeezed oranges to the butter.let them simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the cream and simmer for 5 more minutes or untill the sauce thickens.

Remove the orange zest and the squeezed oranges, your sauce is ready

Now you can either put the chicken back in the sauce and simmer for 5-10 minutes or pour the sauce on the chicken right before serving

Garnish with the orange zest slices you sautéed..
