I have written the intro to this post at least 20 times in my head and on the computer! and each time I end up deleting everything and abandoning the whole post!
Watching the news especially with the Black lives matter protests and everything going on in the states and around the globe makes you question a lot of things in your life: your priorities,the lengths you would go for an idea you believe in, the books you read, the company you keep, the people you follow on social media and the list goes on and on.
Qirfeh bil jooz (qirfeh is Arabic for cinnamon and jooz is walnuts) is a warm and comforting cinnamon drink topped with nuts -usually walnuts- traditionally served in colder months in Palestine and throughout the levant.
Isn’t it fascinating how simple ingredients like flour, butter, a pinch of salt and a splash of milk can be used to produce so many different culinary creations?
The more recipes I learn from different cuisines and cultures, the more enchanting I find human creativity to be. The recipes that come from different cultures carry a bit of that culture’s essence or soul if you will, making the experience of making those recipes “and of course eating the results” deeper, more profound and more enjoyable.
The February Arabic flavor recipe comes from Kuwait and my experience with exploring the Kuwaiti cuisine has been quite similar to other Arabic Gulf cuisines, I find myself particularly drawn to the spice profiles of the recipes
