Garlic bread seasoning

This month’s secret recipe club assignment was Cheese with noodles by the wonderful and sweet Anna.  She lives in Alaska with her husband, their bunnies,  two cats, and an adorable Great Pyrenees puppy.  When she is not in the kitchen or looking up new recipes, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, doing crafts, crocheting, sewing, painting , and spending time outside (especially gardening) .

Galic bread seasoning mix

I loved going through her archive and bookmarked quite a few recipes:Hot Chocolate Mix,Southwestern Corn ChowderCinnamon Roll Pancakes .I ended up making her
Garlic Bread Seasoning  because my kids love garlic bread. Having a seasoning mix ready at hand, sounded like a great idea. All I have to do is mix a couple of tablespoons of it with some softened butter and mozzarella cheese, slice a baguette and garlic bread is 15 minutes away.

I love the fact that this seasoning is versatile. I can sprinkle it on pizza, on salads, use it to season homemade crackers. I invest 5 minutes to mix it up, then I can enjoy a jar full of possibilities

Galic bread seasoning

Garlic Bread Seasoning

4 tablespoons powdered parmesan cheese (the kind in little jars in the fridge)
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Place everything in an 8 oz jar and shake to mix. Store in the fridge. Sprinkle on pizza, pasta, breadsticks, or make garlic bread with it.

To make garlic bread

One baguette

2 tablespoons of the garlic bread seasoning

1/3 cup softened butter

1 cup mozzarella cheese.

Make cuts that are 1 -2 cms apart along the baguette. Don’t go all the way through

Mix the seasoning with the butter and cheese

Spread the garlic cheese butter on one side of each slice, press the slices together, then wrap the whole thing in aluminum foil.

Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until bread is heated through and lightly crisp on the outside.
