Watermelon strawberry pineapple frappe

One of the things I love most  about food blogging is that it introduces you to new recipes and new ways to use old ingredients. I have confessed my love for watermelon long before I became a food blogger but it wasn’t untill I started this blog that I explored the fact that watermelon is good for more than just slicing and eating. Having tried drinks and granitas next in line is making watermelon jam (I know!),  rind pickles (don’t ask) and salad.

Another fun fact about food blogging is that it comes with  a license to use fancy words like “frappe” 🙂 It doesn’t matter if you have to google the word before using it …it was still fun lol

Frappe according to Wikipedia  comes from the French frapper meaning to strike or hit, it is used in English to refer to various uses of crushed ice.

This particular recipe comes from women’s weekly  and it was an instant hit with the kids. Instead of using ice I froze the strawberries and the pineapple slices.

1/2 can of pineapples (reserve the juice)

1 cup strawberries

4 cups watermelon slices (half of a small watermelon)

In the food processor or the blender blend the pineapples, strawberries, and watermelon along with the juice from the pineapple can.

You can do this in patches and then combine in a large jug
